THREE SUPER EAGLES PLAYERS ARRIVED NIGERIA AHEAD OF FRIDAY’S AFCON 2022 QUALIFIER AGAINST SIERRA LEONE
Ahead of Friday’s AFCON 2022 qualifier against Sierra Leone, Super Eagles trio of Kelechi Iheanacho, Ahmed Musa and Maduka Okoye have arrived Nigeria Monday as camp opens for the Nigerian team.
The three players will then move to Benin venue of the match on Tuesday.
Maduka Okoye was in action for his Dutch Eredivisie side, Sparta Rotterdam, who claimed their first win of the season in a 2-0 away win at the weekend.
Iheanacho was an unused substitute for Leicester City in their 1-0 home win against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League.
More players are expected to arrive the country Monday for the crucial game against the West African minnows.
Meanwhile, Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, has charged the players to be in their best form in other to defeat Sierra Leone over the two legs of their 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches.
Rohr also revealed that he expects all the 23 players to be available for full training on Tuesday pointing out that two days training might not be enough to get ready, but that the player have to make use of understanding of themselves to get a good result.
The first of the encounters come up on Friday, November 13 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, while the reverse fixture will hold at the National Stadium Freetown on Tuesday, November 17.
The Eagles top Group L on six points after two games while Sierra Leone are bottom with just a point.
The three-time AFCON winners warmed up for the Sierra Leone ties with two friendly games against Algeria and Tunisia in Austria last month.
They lost 1-0 to Algeria before holding Tunisia to a 1-1 draw.
