The Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, on Tuesday presented sixty thousand naira each to four hundred and sixty women

As part of efforts by the State Government to encourage decent source of livelihood and Human Capital Development through various economic stimulus strategies four hundred and sixty benefiting homes drawn from the 25 Local Government Area of Delta State, who successfully completed their training under the Women Empowerment and Skill Acquisition Programme, WESAP, and given starters packs last year, were presented the sum of sixty thousand naira each as stimulus to float their trades which include hair dressing, in-door and out-door decoration, fashion design and confectionary.

The State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Community and Social Development, Mrs Flora Alantan, who was represented by her Special Assistant, Mr Lucky Futughe, said that the Delta State Government remains committed toward alleviating the economic hardship of women and youth in the state.

Mrs Alantan stated that the programme which is an initiative of the State Government remains a high priority of the State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa.

Mrs Alantan while commending Governor Okowa for his unflinching support and determination to eradicating poverty in the state maintained that the scheme would be sustained.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs, Community and Social Development tasked the benefitting women to make judicious use of the starters pack and the sixty thousand naira given to them.

She assured other women, who are yet to benefit from the scheme to be patient, as they would be included in the next edition.

The benefiting women, who were trained in hairdressing, decoration confectionary and fashion design, thanked Governor Okowa for his determination in putting smiles on the face of Delta’s despite the hardship caused by the global COVID-19 pandemic.
