After 30years of set back and false starts of the Itiakpe-Ajaocuta-Warri railway line started by the Babagida Administration in 1987 President Muhammadu Buhari Tuesday September 29 commissioned the historic 326km rail way line.
At the station 10, Ujevwu, all seemed to set for commencement of operations as our center has caught sight of some staff who were at their duty post.
The community liaison officer, Mr Lucky Shaka hinted that the railway project will open the local economy of the host community emphasing that the project would stand tall in all the projects carried out by the federal Government.

Although at the time we arrived, no train was sighted, Mr Shaka revealed that by Monday full operation should commence.
A resident of the community, Mr John Ogbeiji expressed at the commissioning of the railway project adding that it will stimulate other businesses operating in the area.
Mr John Ogbeiji also revealed that at commencement, it will serve as a spring board for the Rehabilitation of the Ajaocuta steel company.

It will be recalled that at the commissioning of the Itiakpe-Ajacuota-Warri Railway via a virtual aid president Buhari directed the federal ministry of Transportation to link all the nation’s ports of origin and destination.
The rail way line initially designed for freight services was resigned to move passengers across Northern and southern Nigeria.
