The Warri Correctional Centre in Warri South Local Government Area was on Thursday attacked by suspected hoodlums.
According to the report some hoodlums reportedly attacked the prison and freed some inmates.
DRTV News gathered that some of the inmates who were carrying menial work outside the fence of the prison allegedly escaped following the attack.
According to the source, security operatives suspected to be soldiers allegedly opened fire on the escaping inmates.
An official, who declined to be quoted since he was not authorised to speak with press, said although the hoodlums attempted to break in but were repelled by operatives stationed at the prison. The official further added that no inmate escaped during the incident.
