The Lagos State Police Command says it will no longer tolerate any form of gathering or protest in the nation’s commercial capital.
The Police citied violent attacks on its personnel, formations and innocent Nigerians in different parts of Lagos State as reason for the latest directive.
Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Police Command, Muyiwa Adejobi said on Tuesday that the Lagos State Government has also imposed a curfew in the State.
The curfew in Lagos takes effect from 4pm Tuesday.
The Lagos State Police Command said all security agencies have deployed adequate personnel to take charge and enforce the curfew across the State and regretted the burning of Orile Police Station.
Meanwhile, residents of Lagos State have reacted to the 24 hour curfew imposed in the State by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The Lagos State Governor while imposing the curfew said government will not watch and allow anarchy to reign in the State.
In their reaction, some Lagosians vowed to resume the protest whenever the curfew is lifted.
Others frowned at the fresh curfew imposed in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
