As part of efforts to prevent breakdown of law and order in Nigeria, the Inspector-General of Police Mohammed Adamu has ordered the immediate deployment of Anti-riot Police Unit across the country.
The deployment according to the police hierarchy in Abuja is to protect lives and property of Nigerian and secure the nation’s critical infrastructure.
The order comes following the destruction of different Police Stations across the country.
The Inspector General of Police also ordered massive deployment of Police Operatives to strengthen the security around Correctional facilities nationwide.
The Police Boss explained that twelve suspects have been arrested in connection with the attacks and arson on Police Stations in Benin, Edo State while AK 47 rifles earlier stolen from the vandalized Police Stations have been recovered.
The Inspector General of Police urged members of the public to provide useful information that can lead to the arrest of the fleeing inmates.
