PACIFIC ISLAND OF VANUATU RECORDS ITS FIRST COVID-19 CASE

The Pacific Island of Vanuatu has officially recorded its first case of COVID-19 ending its status as one of the few countries in the world to remain virus-free.

The Director of Vanuatu Public Health, Len Tarivonda, said a 23-year-old man had recently returned from the United States and was confirmed to have the virus after being tested on the fifth day of his quarantine.

Len Tarivonda also said the patient had adhered to all social-distancing rules on arrival and contact tracing of all the people who had been near him was under way.
