Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has been commended for taking practical steps to address issues raised by youths in the recently organised town hall meetings in Warri and Asaba.
A Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Political Matters, Comrade Hope George who gave the commendation while featuring on The Voice of Delta radio programme “Radio Guest” said Governor Okowa had consciously carried youths along in his administration.
He said the town hall meetings provided the platform for youths, civil society organisations, ENDSARS group and ethnic nationalities to place their demands before the governor following the endsars protest.
Comrade George noted that the governor took time to explain and made clarifications where necessary and also made a strong demand to the Federal government for the resuscitation of the Warri Port to enhance job creation for youths.
The Governor’s Aide said the governor being proactive had directed repair work on the Effurun roundabout which was ongoing and assured the youths that the Warri Stadium would be given a facelift after the completion of the Warri storm water drainage project.
Comrade George said Delta State was among the first to set up a panel of inquiry on police brutality which had commenced sitting.
