Following the alleged invasion of Asaba last night by hoodlums believed to be from other States and the burning of some buildings, Delta State Government has declared a 48 hour curfew in the State.
In a state-wide broadcast this morning, Governor Okowa commended youths in the State for the peaceful manner they have gone about the protests.
Dr Okowa however said in view of the hijack of the protests by suspected criminal elements and the need to protect lives and property, a 48 hour curfew will begin from 6pm today and end at 6 pm on Saturday.
He appealed to all Deltans to cooperate with government and maintain peace. The Governor also announced that all public and private schools in the State are to close down immediately till Monday, 2nd November, 2020.
