NIGERIAN NATURAL MEDICINE DEVELOPMENT AGENCY PRESENTS BUDGET OF OVER 1 BILLION NAIRA
The Nigerian Natural Medicine Development Agency, NMDA, has presented the budget of over 1 billion naira before the House Committee on Science and Technology chaired by Honourable Beni Lar.
The Agency explained that the 39 projects were proposed in the 2021 budget.
The Director General of NMDA, Mr. Etatuvie Oghene while speaking on the activities of his Agency states that they were currently conducting research on cancer, Glaucoma, Malaria, Arthritis control among others, with attention on the vector and not the disease.
The Committee however expressed worries over the recruitment process of the agency, maintaining that the law of federal character be duly followed.
The DG in his response said some applicants are unwilling to take up new jobs and relocate to a region different from their own. This according to him has deterred the agency from adhering to the federal character act.
The House of Representatives Committee on science and technology stepped down the budget 2021 hearing and defence of some other Agencies that appeared before it due to their inability to provide the Committee with information on the 2020 Budget implementation.
