Nigeria recorded its second highest daily death toll from COVID-19, on Wednesday, suggesting the country has yet to reach the peak of the second wave, as infections continue to spread rapidly.
According to figures obtained from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC Wednesday midnight shows that the nation recorded 1,861 new confirmed coronavirus cases with 22 deaths.
The new 1,861 confirmed coronavirus cases in Nigeria now brings the total number of infections in the country to 126,160, out of which 100,365 cases have been discharged while 1,544 persons have so far died of the virus. A breakdown by the NCDC of the 22 States with the new infections shows that Lagos has 773 cases, FCT 285, Oyo 138, Rivers 111, Plateau 92, Nasarawa 83, Kaduna 59, Enugu and Imo 57, Edo 43, Kano 27, Kwara 20, Ebonyi 19, Abia 17, Ogun and Osun 12, Katsina 8, Bayelsa 6, Bauchi and Delta 5 cases each, Borno and Jigawa 4 cases each while Zamfara has 1 case.
