The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Chief Festus Keyamo, who hails from Uvwie Kingdom, told the Ovie of Uvwie, Abe the First, that his visit was at the instruction of President Buhari that all members of his cabinet should go to their respective domains to preach peace and unity amongst Nigerians.
Chief Keyamo said President Buhari commended the people of Uvwie for not destroying Federal and State Governments property during the #Endsars protest.
The Minister advised unemployed youths of Uvwie kingdom to take advantage of the Federal Governments one thousand jobs for each State to better their lots.
He stated that the Federal Government had established the Nigerian youth’s investment funds with the sum of 75 billion naira for a period of three years as economic empowerment intervention initiatives and many other soft loans programmes to reduce youth restiveness.
Responding, the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom Abe the First commended Chief Keyamo for performing credibly well as a Minister and urged him not to disappoint the people of Uvwie kingdom.
The Uvwie Monarch thanked the Minister of State for Labour and Employment for attracting development to Uvwie kingdom.
He acknowledged that the grievances of the EndSars protesters were genuine and praised Uvwie youths for protecting lives and property in Uvwie Local Government Area during the EndSARS protest.
He admonished the Federal Government to always seek counsel from the Traditional Institution, in order to prevent such situation.
Abe the First advised that the Federal Government one thousand jobs for Local Government areas in Nigeria be shared equitably without political sentiment.
The traditional ruler disclosed that of the one thousand jobs slots apportioned to Uvwie, only thirty slots were shared amongst the various quarters in Uvwie Kingdom.
He bemoaned the highly unemployment rate amongst Nigerian youths, saying that it was painful for parents to sponsor their children’s education through higher institutions without jobs opportunities.
The Ovie of Uvwie highlighted some pressing issues in the kingdom that needed Federal Government attention to includes provision of Uvwie Police Area Command, recovering of Uvwie land illegally occupied by the Nigeria Army, Reopening of Osubi Airstrip reconstruction of Effurun Sapele Benin road and conversation of host casual and support staff of NNPC.
