Indigenes of Jesse community resident in Asaba, the State Capital, have described the newly crowned Ovie of Idjerhe kingdom, Obukohwo Monday Whiskey Udurhie the first as an epitome of knowledge and wisdom.
The people under aegis of Jesse Elites Forum Asaba branch, said the ascension of Monday Whiskey to the throne of his forefathers was an act of God, stressing that his knowledge and wisdom was needed for the advancement and development of Idjerhe kingdom.
The chairman and secretary of the forum, Mr Godwin Oghenedoro and Lucky Oyibo, in a joint statement in Asaba, also described the new monarch as wise and courageous, maintaining that his selection, coronation and presentation of staff of office by the Delta State Government was a clear testimony of his wide acceptability to the ancient throne.
The forum stated that Idjerhe Kingdom being the second largest kingdom in Urhobo land, with over forty communities and blessed with natural resources, needed a man with such outstanding qualities to further advance the age long tradition, culture and bond of unity and harmonious coexistence among the sub clans in the kingdom.
The forum implored all sons and daughters of the kingdom as well as other stakeholders to join forces with the new monarch to protect projects and promote the cultural heritage, territorial integrity and socio-economic development of Idjerhe kingdom.
While felicitating with the people, the Jesse Elite Forum, Asaba branch, commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, for the presentation of staff of office, that climaxed the installation process of Ovie Monday Whiskey as the new traditional ruler of Idjerhe kingdom.
