The Nigeria military said it has killed 22 insurgents in the North East and three bandits at Diskuru village in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State in the ongoing battle to dislodge terrorists from the country.
Coordinator of Defence Media Operations, Major General John Enenche, stated this on Thursday in Abuja while briefing newsmen on the activities of the military in the fight against insurgency and banditry in the northeast, north-central and south-southern parts of the country.
He said that during the operations, three abducted women and their infants were also rescued.
The Defence Headquarters spokesman disclosed that in the last five days, the land component of Operation Lafiya Dole repelled terrorist attacks on troops’ location at Army Super Camp, Damboa in Borno State.
Enenche however, regretted that a soldier was killed in an attempt to save one of the rescued nursing mothers in the heat of the encounter.
