Officials first detected the flu a week ago after flocks of birds were found dead in various State.

Some States acted on the reports of the bird flu, announcing culling of poultry and other measures.

The official said the flu is a low risk to humans, and advised the people not to touch dead or visibly sick birds.

The Indian Government issue a high alert, asking States to take urgent measures to curb the spread.
