Recall that Augoye was appointed by Governor Okowa in his first tenure that started in 2015. The Delta State Governor reappointed Augoye in his second tenure, starting in 2019 before the State executive council was dissolved recently.

Asaba, the capital of Delta State was agog on as the immediate past Commissioner for Works was sent forth by the ministry.

The event, which was planned to be on a low key, later attained a bigger celebration mood as top officials of the ministry showered praises on the immediate past Commissioner for his diligent service in the ministry and to Deltans in general.

The permanent secretary of the ministry Engr. Fred Edafioghor in his address thanked Augoye for the way and manner he led the ministry in the past six years.

He stated that Augoye made so many marks in the ministry, from being the longest serving Works Commissioner to being the Commissioner whose tenure experienced little or no abandoned projects.

At the event, the Okpe born grassroot politician and governorship hopeful in 2023 could not hide his joy as he recalled his first day at the Ministry of Works immediately after swearing-in on 3rd July, 2015.

“I remember our former permanent secretary, late Engr. Donatus Umukoro, who sat down with me in my office and opened up the ministry for me.
“I learnt about three lessons from him that helped me to succeed and I am happy standing here today.

“Of all the contractors sitting here today, none of them can say I have ever requested any percentage of their payment from them.

“I was only committed to doing my job. I do not believe in the saying that government work you put it on the shoulder. I take my job personally.

“That is the reason of all the road projects awarded, about 500 of them, there is none I did not visit as commissioner,” Chief Augoye said.

He thanked the ministry and staff of the ministry for the honour accorded him.

“I appreciate The Permanent Secretary, Engr. Fred Edafioghor for his loyalty and support; Engr. Joshua Egube and all other engineers that helped me to succeed.

“On behalf of my family I want to say thank you to the management and staff of the ministry once again,” Augoye said.
