While speaking on the importance of a vibrant youth body to the overall development of a society, the Chairman of Warri South Local Government Dr Michael Tidi said youths are nation builders.
Dr Tidi who had a brief session with elders and leaders of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN from Delta Central and Delta South Senatorial Districts told the youth body to always remain as one in seeking to address issues concerning moving youths forward in the State
He called on idle youths in the State to refrain from engaging in nefarious activities but take advantage of the Delta State Government’s STEP and YAGEP empowerment programmes to develop themselves.
For his part, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Okowa on Political Matters Comrade Hope George said NYCN is a unifying forum for the youths and issues bordering on their development and advancement will always be well articulated.
Comrade George who is the immediate past State Chairman, NYCN , and a member of the board of trustees at the national level, stressed that as the body prepares to get a new leadership at both the local and state levels the right thing needs to be done to ensure a transparent and fair processes in line with the constitution.
He thanked Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for being a youth friendly Governor by establishing youths in the state through several empowerment and training programs, appointment of youths in different positions, and introducing a youth parliament in the state among others.
