Two Engineering Monitoring Committes, namely the Delta State Technical Committee and the Delta State Expatriates Monitoring Committee have been inaugurated by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa with a charge to ensure highest engineering standards at projects sites across the state.
State Deputy Governor Deacon Kingsley Otuaro who stood in for Governor Ifeanyi Okowa emphasized that the Committees which were initiated by the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, COREN, followed series of failed or collapsed infrastructure across the state.

Governor Okowa who described membership of the Delta State Technical Committee as all embracing, charged the engineers to fearlessly visit any construction site not only to ensure the competence of the project supervisors but also the quality of materials being used.
To the Delta State Expatriates Monitoring Committee, the governor tasked them to ensure that less qualified Expatriates do not deny more qualified Nigerian Engineers jobs on project sites.
He emphasized that all stages of work done by Expatriates must be inspected and certified accordingly just as they must adhere to all engineering regulations by COREN.
The President of The Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria COREN, Engr. Ali A. Rabiu who was represented by Engr. Cyril Oyeneke called on the state government to ensure compliance with the COREN regulation.
He appealed for provision of a Hilux van to facilitate their smooth operation even as he thanked the state government for the parcel of land on which the state COREN Secretariat was being built.
A cross section of top Government Officials attended the ceremony.
