GOVERNOR OKOWA EXPRESSES HAPPINESS THAT POWA EXECUTIVE MEMBERS ARE PASSIONATE AND INTERESTED IN WOMEN EMPOWERMENT
Governor Okowa expressed happiness that the POWA executive members in the state were passionate and interested in women empowerment through skills development and pledged to partner with them in the realization of their goals.
The Governor noted that his administration has placed priorities to ensure that they were gainfully employed.
He said reforms in the Education subsector of the state was to being placed on skills acquisition with a view to raising a crop of entrepreneurs.
Governor Okowa reminded members of POWA of the need to extend hands of fellowship to wives of officers that lost their lives in the line of duty.
The Chairperson of POWA, Hajia Aisha Inuwa disclosed that the Association is a nonprofit oriented, non-Governmental, non-political, non-religious, non-ethnic in nature and is a philanthropic, innovative, educative, informative, social and God fearing one.
According to Haija Inuwa, the objectives of the association are to foster the bond of friendship, promote cordial relationship and enhance unity among police officers wives, thereby promoting and providing social and welfare programmes for all ranks of the force, their families and by extension, the public.
She added that the Association, also, helps the needy and vulnerable members by giving them opportunities thrown access to education, skills acquisition by the award of scholarships and empowerment training programmes.
