According to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, the action of the State Government was due to cases where public assets were burnt down, looting, armed robbery, molestation and intimidation whom, he believes came from neighbouring states.

Governor Okowa said that he was in support of the ongoing ‘EndSARS’ protest by the youths and advised them to leave the streets and come to a round table dialogue with government.

The Governor noted that  in line with the directive of the National Economic Council, he had constitute a judicial panel of enquiry to handle all cases relating to extra-judicial killings and police brutality as well as  floating victims support fund for the payment of monetary compensation to deserving victims.

While maintaining that an atmosphere of peace was needed to sustain the current level of development in the state, Governor Okowa emphasised that his administration was in full support of the demands by youths in Nigeria for the total reform of the police force and restructuring of the nation.

Governor Okowa called on parents, traditional rulers, youth leaders and opinion moulders to prevail on youths to thread on the path of peace as Government maps out ways to address their demands.
