For two consecutive days the member representing Warri South Two Constituency, Hon Matthew Opuoro went round some Public Primary and Secondary Schools in his Constituency distributing students and pupils desks and chairs as well as teachers tables and chairs.
The schools that benefitted are Ikengbuwa Primary School, Pessu Primary School, Ighogbadu Primary School, Igbudu Primary School, Olodi Primary, Edjeba Secondary School and Essi College One and Two.
Presenting the furniture to the various heads of the benefitting schools, Hon Opuoro said on assumption of office last year he went round public schools in his Constituency and found out that most of them lack furniture and toilet facilities.
He noted that to meet this needs, he decided to include the procurement desks, chairs, teachers tables and chairs as his Constituency project and through partnership with the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, he was able to provide the items.
Hon Opuoro who assured the Head Teachers that more students chairs and desks, as well as teachers tables and chairs will be provided soon, disclosed that he is presently building toilets for Ighogbadu Primary School, Warri.
The lawmaker expressed confidence that, the pieces of furniture will make teaching and learning conducive as well as ensure social distancing when school resumes. He urged the Head Teachers to maintain the items and promised to facilitate the renovation of a roof blown away by wind at Olodi Primary School, Warri.
