DELTA STATE POLICE ARRESTS MAN WITH A BAG OF GARRI CONTAINING AK47 AMMUNITION

Men of the Delta State Police Command attached to the Bomadi Divisional patrol team have arrested one Solomon Ebe, with a bag of garri containing Three Hundred and Forty rounds of AK47 live ammunition.
ROLL CAP: Ebe, a 37-year-old of Tuomo community in Burutu Local Government Area was arrested by the patrol team on Friday, October 1, 2021, which was Nigeria’s Independence Day anniversary while on stop and search duty along the Bomadi/Tuomo road.
The Command’s spokesman, DSP Bright Edafe in a statement said the Operatives who were discrete in their responsibilities on reasonable suspicion decided to search the suspect and the bag.
According to the statement, the suspect was arrested and investigation is ongoing.
Meanwhile, the Command has begun investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Gift Ojarikre, the 29-year-old birthday celebrant at Obinomba community in Ukwuani Local Government Area.
Ojarikre died on Friday, September 24, 2021, from the bullet fired by a member of a patrol team during his birthday party at a popular bar in Obinomba axis of Umukwata kingdom.
The Command’s image-maker, DSP Bright Edafe said that members of the patrol team have been taken into custody on the orders of the state Commissioner of Police, Ari Mohammed Ali, for investigation on the matter.

The Command had in its initial reaction to the incident said the bullet that killed the deceased was fired in self-defence by one of its men when a group of boys at the birthday party tried to disarm an inspector who was among the patrol team.
