Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, DSIEC, has urged interested persons wishing to serve as ad-hoc staff in the upcoming March 6 local government council general election in the State to apply to the Commission

The Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, DSIEC, has urged interested persons wishing to serve as ad-hoc staff in the upcoming March 6 local government council general election in the State to apply to the Commission.

The Chairman of DSIEC, Chief Mike Ogbodu in a Statement noted that qualified persons shall be required to serve as Local Government Returning Officers, Ward Returning Officers, Supervisory Presiding Officers, Presiding Officers and Poll Clerks.

The Statement added that applicants for any of the positions must not be card-carrying members of any registered political party.

According to the Statement only Civil Servants on salary grade level 15 and above shall be eligible as Local Government Returning Officers. Ward Returning Officers Civil or Public servants not below salary grade level 12 and Supervisory Presiding Officers Civil or Public servants not below salary grade level 12.

The Statement insisted that for Presiding Officers the Qualifications is at least   salary grade level 08 and Poll Clerks is salary grade level 07.

Retired Civil or Public servants according to the Statement, may also apply just as  any other person who is not a civil or public servant but is non-partisan, with a credible guarantor, can also apply in any of the categories .

It says application which should be handwritten should be signed, addressed and submitted to any of the Chief Electoral Officers, CEOs, of the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission Office nearest to them or the Secretary, Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, Kilometer 8, Asaba/Onitsha Expressway, Asaba on or before 2nd February, 2021.

The Statement requested that applicants must attach to their applications, two recent passport size photographs, Bank details for ease of payment and Curriculum Vitae with all relevant documents that would facilitate consideration of their application. It also says, application must bear the recommendations of the applicant’s professional or career Head of department showing his name, rank and Department and Ministry.
