Hon Ferguson Onwo, flanked by the Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Hon Eric Oharisi and three other members, Honorables Innocent Anidi, Pat Ajudua and Peter Uviejitobor, were conducted round the project by the State Commissioner, Special Duties, Government House, Chief Henry Siakpra.
The Lawmakers inspected the several sections of the new secretariat building, including offices for different categories of workers, the clinics, the crèche, the Information and Technology Center, ICT, the Restaurants and Driver’s waiting rooms amongst others.
They also had a look at the entire building design, the various exit points and progress of work on the parking lots of the Secretariat.
The Chairman, House Committee on Housing and Women Development, Hon Ferguson Onwo said the inspection was part of the oversight functions of the State Legislature and described the new secretariat building as a gigantic one.
He said by his estimation, the funds appropriated for the project has so far being well utilized.
Hon Onwo stressed the quality of work on the project met the expectations of the Delta State House of Assembly.
He commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for his visionary leadership and commitment to leaving lasting legacies in the state.
The State Commissioner, Special Duties, Government House, Chief Henry Sakpra said the new Secretariat was designed to be a one-stop-shop building for civil servants and Deltans who have need to visit the place.
He said the project was started towards the end of the first tenure of the Okowa’s administration and that finishing touches were being put in place with the installation of furniture and fittings, ICT facilities and electrification.
He assured that the project will be commissioned soon and handover for occupation.
