DELTA STATE GOVERNMENT SAYS VACCINATION AND TREATMENT OF YELLOW FEVER HAVE COMMENCED AT UTE-OKPU AND IDUMUESAH
The State Government says Vaccination and treatment of Yellow fever patients have commenced at Ute-okpu and Idumuesah in Ika North East Local Government Area of the state to checkmate further mortality arising from the disease.
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa who disclosed this on Wednesday while answering questions from journalists at the quarterly media Interaction at the press centre, Government House Asaba said Health personnel have also, been deployed to communities in Ika south for vaccination in order to forestall further outbreak of the disease and urged residents of the area to come out to be vaccinated.
The Governor who said the exercise will be carried out across the state, affirmed that the result of the test carried out on affected persons in the area afforded Government opportunity to know the root cause of the death of some youths in Ika North East.
On the plans by the State Government to complete the Ughelli/Asaba dualisation project, the Governor said the project has been adequately budgeted for in the 2021 budget proposal sent to the House of Assembly.
To control traffick at the Koka junction, Asaba, Governor Okowa said that there was already a design for the interchange of the area that would addressed in the 2021 budget of the state.
He said state Government cannot afford to employ more civil servants due to the over bloated staff list, emphasizing that more science based teachers would be employed next year in some schools and the new technical colleges.
While saying that the #EndSARS protest raised a lot of issues that needs urgent attention to better the lots of youths in the country, the Governor said plans were already on to rebuild all buildings and beautification projects destroyed by hoodlums who hijacked the peaceful #EndSARS protest.
