BIHAR ELECTION: IDIA’S BJP WINS KEY STATE ELECTION
India’s Governing Party, the Bharatiya Janata Party, BJP, and its allies have won the key State Election.
The victory is seen as a barometer of Prime Minister Narendra Modi Government’s handling of het Coronavirus Pandemic and the resulting economic downturn.
Narenda Modi’s, BJP, and his regional ally Janata Dal United, JOU, won 125 seats of the Bihar State’s 243 seat legislature.
A Coalition of more than three political parties led by Rashtriya Janata Dal, RJD, who opposed the incumbent alliance managed to win 110 seats.
The result, which was announced in the early hours on Wednesday, means that Nitish Kumar from the Janata Dal United, JOU, will likely return as the Chief Minister, a post has held since 2005.
