Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has said that it is ready to call off the seven-month strike if the federal government pays members’ outstanding salaries.
ASUU’s Ibadan Zonal Coordinator, Professor Ade Adejumo stated this on Wednesday while briefing newsmen
Adejumo said despite the ongoing negotiation, the Federal Government has refused to pay their salaries and allowances.
He said some members were selectively paid had their salaries cut allegedly to starve the union of the energy needed to sustain the negotiations.
The Minister of State for Education, Mr. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba had on Wednesday claimed that the Federal Government had done all it needed for the striking lecturers to go back to the classroom.
