45 People Injured as a result of clash between security forces and demonstrator in northern Lebanon
Lebanese Red Cross has confirmed 45 people injured as clashes erupted between security forces and demonstrator in northern Lebanon.
The protest was caused by the Coronavirus lockdown that has worsened their economic woes.
The Army was deployed to contain the rioters, who pelted government offices with stones, touched a vehicle and blocked a main square.
Many of Tripoli’s residents have been left without an income since Lebanon imposed a full lockdown earlier this month in a bid to surge the COVID-19 cases and prevent its hospital being overwhelmed.
Last week, authorities extended the lockdown by two weeks, auguring day laborer’s and other vulnerable groups.
